The story behind the Green Chair Pictures name.
While helping her mother move from Maryland to Southern California following the untimely death of her father, Dana packed the family's green chair pictures -- the photos taken over the years every time their aunt from Texas visited. The first photo featured their aunt seated on the family's green chair in the living room, with Dana and her two brothers sitting on the arms or standing next to it. Over the years the photos expanded to include spouses and offspring. While tucking away the pictures, Dana also filed away the idea for the company name, something that could aptly summarize her love of family and of film.
Today Green Chair Pictures is a sole proprietorship, registered as a "Doing Business As" domain. While Dana had hoped to turn her work on several freelance projects and teaching into a steady film production business, her illness taught her a valuable lesson about what matters most in life. As a result, she now tends to stick closer to home and to her new community of Warner, NH, where she helps her neighbors and family members when she can, and serves as a Trustee for Pillsbury Free Library. She also writes frequently, and can be seen occasionally cutting vegetables and washing dishes at her daughter's cafe: Abby's Cafe in Henniker, where she takes her payment in soup and coffee. |
