Welcome to GCP, the home of Dana Biscotti Myskowski: Screenwriter, Producer, Professor, Mentor, Publicist, Writer, & Mom...oh my!
Screenwriter:
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing/Screenwriting from Goddard College and studied screenwriting in the Online Professional Programs at UCLA. I've won numerous awards for my scripts and have seen a couple screenplays optioned, heard a few stage read, and have even seen some taped (shorts and a planetarium show). I have also written scripts for nonprofit and corporate clients, including Capitol Center for the Arts, General Dynamics, and General Electric.
Producer:
I jumped into that role a few years ago when I produced a PSA for the inaugural 7DayPSA Competition hosted by Flickers. Since, I have produced an annual video for the Concord Boys & Girls Club, and a short narrative fiction piece in the inaugural Producer's Guild Weekend Shorts Competition.
Professor/Mentor:
I teach at the University of New Hampshire's Manchester campus, where I have taught since 2004, and where I won the Adjunct Professor of the Year Award in 2009. I recently began teaching online at Southern New Hampshire University, and I have taught at New England College and at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. I mentor a junior high student, and have mentored seniors at the local high school and numerous students in Independent Studies at UNH. Classroom subjects include: screenwriting, writing for TV, creative writing, media writing, image & sound, and composition. Mentoring subjects have included: novels, screenwriting, memoir, comic book writing, short stories, and more. I also work with screenwriters to help them hone their craft, by offering editing notes and lengthy script critiques.
Publicist:
I helped a candidate for the state legislature win a seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives by managing his social media and traditional advertising campaign, including designing and maintaining a website for him. I helped a short film gain just over $10,000 in funding through its three-week Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign by launching and managing its Twitter account, gaining more than 100 followers in those three weeks. I've also edited a college's alumni magazine, created a radio ad campaign for a hospital, and helped a community loan program by writing and editing its monthly newsletter.
Writer:
I've written stage plays that have been stage read or produced, and have even had a short one published in a collection. I've written fiction, news articles, twitter fiction, and essays that have been published, and I have written numerous press releases, tweets, emails, etc. (including resumes) for clients and businesses. I've also written copy for websites, ads, blogs, and more.
Mom:
I'm the proud mother of two fabulous young adults.
